Today (September 21) it was my turn again to preach at the Adventureland Chapel. The following is a copy of the handout that I gave to the congregation. The website listed is for PrayerConnect Magazine, from which I used a brief quotation, and invited the congregation to refer to as the July-August issue had several articles which were pertinent to the theme of my message.
Apparently, CRM has severed it's connection with Sermon.net, so you won't be able to go to the web to hear this one. You'll just have to use your imagination.
The summer season is winding down here at Adventureland and I hope to be posting again regularly soon.
Better Prayers
James 5:16-18
16 Confess your sins to each
other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of
a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no
rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he
prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.
1. We will have better prayers if we learn to listen
rather than talk.
My sheep listen to my voice; I
know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

“Jesus replied, “Your mistake is
that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”
Matthew 22:29
3. We will have better prayers if we align ourselves with
the eternal plan and purpose of God.
“So don’t worry about these
things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly
Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God* above all
else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew
6:31-33
