Thanks to all who have recently viewed this site, particularly those ten page views on November 8.
I apologize for a long absence. Also, please understand that the following was written largely before the recent Paris attacks, which make our world economic woes seem somewhat insignificant by comparison.
Nonetheless, I feel led to submit this message with which God has burdened my heart.
Well, the 29th of Elul at the end
of the year of the Shemitah has come and gone and nothing happened.
The fourth super blood moon has
also come and gone, and aside from the fact that it was an awesome and a
beautiful sight, it too was uneventful.
Although Russia carried out an airstrike against Isis
in Syria, which may be prophetically significant, this past year on the Jewish
calendar has been rather uneventful from a prophetic standpoint.
The Shemitah and the four blood
moons and all the other speculation of this last Jewish calendar year is not strictly
phenomena that was being predicted by Jonathan Cahn, and others as
prophetically significant. There were many of us that jumped on the bandwagon. As
Mr. Cahn pointed out, there is a history of prophetically significant events
that have occurred in past Shemitah years, and blood moon occurrences. The
prospect of all these things occurring together was just too good to refrain
from speculating about! And as we all waited in anticipation, nothing happened!
I think it is safe to say that
our God does not lend Himself to our speculative predictability. It is also
safe to say that we are now in search of understanding about what did (or did
not) happen. I would like to reflect on three possible interpretations:
First; perhaps God's people did
sufficiently repent and the judgment of the third Shemitah was averted. I would
refer you to a my recent post, Repentance
in an Unrepentant World, for the applicable definition of repentance in this circumstance. There
has truly been evidence in the last couple of years that many of God's people
have drawn closer to Him and have sought to follow him more obediently. At the
same time, I cannot help but observe that those who are not His people have
made an even more radical departure from His ways. The contrast between the
true Church and the world has not been this great in my lifetime, and perhaps
not even since the days of the apostles. I am grateful for all of His people
who are following Him more truly, yet I doubt that this interpretation is
correct.
Second; perhaps God has given up
on us. While this may sound a bit drastic, it has not escaped my notice that in
the originally cited history of Israel in the novel, The Harbinger, there were only two Shemitah years in which the warnings were given to Israel
before the judgment came down on them. Our two occurrences (that we are aware of) were, of course, the 9-11
attacks, and the 2008 market crash. Perhaps we had our last warning in 2008.
While this scenario is certainly possible, I would like to focus on a third
possibility.
Perhaps what is happening in our
world has nothing to do with the Shemitah, or anything else related to The Harbinger. I read recently in an
article by Jerry Robinson, author of the book Bankruptcy of our Nation, that made the following statement:
"America could end all
abortions, put prayer back in school, have a national revival, etc., and the
U.S. economic system will still implode." (Prophecy in the News magazine,
August, 2015, P.38.)
While I don't fully agree with
all that he says, this reflects what has been said by others that I cited in my
previous post, The Economic Crisis (January
21, 2014) regarding the trouble that our economy is currently experiencing.
Newsmax magazine ran an article
in the October, 2015 issue with the title: The
Coming Financial Crash, authored by David Stockman and corresponding to the
cover title: The Great Debt Bomb. The
basic thesis being that our nation's debt "bubble" is about to burst,
and with great financial consequence to us all, both as a nation and as
individuals within this nation.
Author James Rickards in his
book: The Death of Money, makes a
similar case, pointing out that the same basic thing is happening in the
economies of all the world's major nations.
The leaders of the current
administration, and their allies in Congress deny that there is anything wrong.
They try to tell us that recovery is underway, and are disingenuously
representing that everything is improving by the day. This reminds me of the
words of Jeremiah's prophecy in 6:14; and 8:11:
They have healed the wound of My people
lightly, saying 'peace, peace' when there is no peace" (Jeremiah
6:14 ESV)
Our economic troubles do exist, and in spite of the
statements of denial by our government, are putting us in jeopardy for what may
be the biggest financial crash in our history, or perhaps even in the history
of the world! In addition to this fact, the authors above cited seem to all
feel that we have reached a point of no return, and that these, the results of our
economic recklessness and stupidity cannot be reversed.
If there is any good news or any
hope that I can find for optimism, it is in my belief that my God can rescue
all of His children and protect us, and use us as His instruments of good in
the perilous times that lie ahead for us. Let us listen to His voice. Let us
let Him lead us and prepare us physically, mentally, emotionally and above all,
spiritually for the times that lie ahead.
Thanks for sharing this moment
with me today.
